Strategic Business Systems, Inc. (SBS) is hiring Inventory Control Specialists to support data center operations in Raleigh, NC for a proprietary customer. Note: this position has a start date of March 1, 2019.
Job Description
Perform basic Tape Librarian duties per documented processes and procedures. These tasks include but are not limited to scanning, comparing, processing media for vault movement in and out, retention and posting of required evidence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer assistance using all types of communication and media.
  • Provide input to Library procedures, produce and maintain all documentation necessary to comply with client requirements.
  • Maintain and ensure tape inventory integrity by performing or assisting with Library tape inventory. Must be reconciled following a set schedule.
  • Interact with and utilize all tape library software and media tracking products.
  • Perform customer and library tape in's and out's using client prescribed procedures and documentation.
  • Provide assistance to other tape librarian personnel and employees to ensure that the highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Perform tape assignment. To include: adding, releasing, removing, deleting, scratching, replacing, initializing, marking, confirming, notifying, expiring, and extending. Maintain appropriate scratch pools and print scratch lists as needed.
  • Maintain Library tapes by system and by customer.
  • Maintain vital records. To include: Adding new vital records, updating existing info, obsoleting vital records, V/R revalidation, support disaster recovery tests, run applications associated with VRs, and package and ship records.
  • Order library supplies using client interface.
  • Print all vital listings for day's shipment for off-site storage.
  • Pull and scan volsers/tapes associated to send off-site daily. Reconcile each vital; research/locate all volsers missing when not reconciled. Pack and lock volsers/tapes in their own container. File returning volsers/tapes in the associated libraries. Research all vitals/volser not returned from off-site storage.
  • Provide constructive input for shift turnover to management and teammates.
  • Understand and utilize communication and work tools (phone, e-mail, turnover tools, fax, client training tools, other client specific work tools, etc.)
  • Perform Floor sweeps searching for media as needed which may include searching under/on top of equipment, under raised floor tiles etc.
  • Always perform work in a safe manner.
  • Escalate to the assigned client representative and manager any documentation, process or procedure discrepancies and follow-up until resolved.
  • Must be able and willing to learn new tasks/skills as required.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand verbal, written and electronic instructions in English.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
  • Must possess basic inter-personal relationship skills and must be capable of providing guidance. This position must also know and perform all required tasks/job duties after receiving training relevant to the client.
  • May be required to perform additional tasks and/or duties as assigned by management.
    • Moderate computer skills, experience using Excel and Word is required.
    • Ability to use email, communicate effectively both verbally and written.
    • Ability to follow detailed processes/instructions is required.
    • Enjoys Working in a Fast-paced Environment.
    • Knowledge of Computer Hardware and Related Services.
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
