Strategic Business Systems is seeking a Sr Network Engineer SME to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This is part of a team that ensures the customer's ability to provide mission critical intelligence and successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.
This role is onsite in Fort Belvoir, VA.
Required Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI (willing to sit for CI Poly)
Required Certifications: Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements - one Level II certification AND one Computing Environment (CE) certification
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure supporting the INSCOM customer enclaves
- Perform daily operational tasks submitted by customers through ticket system
- Prepare network or infrastructure Visio topology diagrams, write Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance plans and provide status reports as required, participate in data calls and other operational and maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot network problems, network device configurations and coordinate with various department administrators to facilitate connectivity issue resolution
- Design technical solutions
- Participate in the development and support of GISA and INSCOM technical requirements
- Champion a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing standard methodologies and success and building positive relationships
- Can deliver technical presentations to include whiteboards at CxO level through to detailed technical staff.
- System administrator skills with UNIX, Microsoft or application knowledge
- Proven grasp of LAN and WAN networking protocols and technologies, including switching, routing, and security (e.g., Layer 4-7, firewall, DDoS, etc)
- Is generally recognized as a leader in the industry in their area of expertise; sought out by others in the area of expertise for advice and guidance
- Provides expert support, analysis, research, and advice into exceptionally complex problems, and processes relating to the subject matter
- Coordinates with contract management and Government personnel to ensure the problems have been properly defined and the solutions satisfy customer needs
- Analyzes user needs to determine functional requirements for a wide variety of projects; consults with clients to determine optimum design for assigned projects
- Generates recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other major documents provided to senior level client personnel
- Identifies emerging relevant technologies that may result in improvements to current processes and systems
- Writes and updates project documentation including system procedures, presentations, and training materials
- May serve as technical team or task lead
Education: High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience, or Associate's Degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment
- Advanced troubleshooting experience in one or more of the following network technology areas: Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure, Palo Alto Networks NGFW, Site-to-Site VPN, Remote Access VPN, DMVPN
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong customer service
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communications skills and ability to interact with clients
- Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto network technologies
- Experience with TCPDump, Wireshark and analyzing network traffic
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP network models and provide examples
- Experience working in a large SDLC environment
- Clearance Level: TS/SCI
- Required Certification(s):
- DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract
- IAT II 8570 Baseline Certification -Sec+CE or equivalent

- Cisco Certified Network Professional – Datacenter
- Cisco Certified Network Professional – Enterprise
- Cisco Certified Network Professional – Security
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer
