Junior Software Developer - TS/SCI Clearance
Strategic Business Systems, Inc. (SBS) is seeking a motivated Junior Software Developer to support a cutting-edge modeling and analytics framework for the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career software developer to work alongside experienced technical leaders in cloud computing, software engineering, and data analytics. The selected candidate will contribute to the modernization, enhancement, and operational support of a mission-critical application leveraged across the Intelligence Community to support real-time decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Java development, an interest in cloud technologies, and a desire to grow their technical skills while supporting important national security missions.
Security Clearance Requirement: Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance and willing to obtain a CI Polygraph.
 
Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software applications using Java and related technologies.
• Support enhancements and modifications to existing applications under the guidance of senior developers.
• Develop and maintain software components, APIs, and application features.
• Participate in troubleshooting and resolving software defects and application performance issues.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, software architects, and project team members to understand technical requirements and implement solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and software quality assurance activities.
• Support software integration efforts across applications, platforms, and environments.
• Assist with application deployments and configuration management activities.
• Contribute to technical documentation, development procedures, and software design discussions.
• Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, and team collaboration.
• Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with emerging software development and cloud technologies.

• 1–3 years of professional software development experience, including relevant internships, academic projects, or hands-on technical experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented programming principles.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web application development.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Experience with or exposure to software version control tools such as Git or Subversion.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and work collaboratively to identify solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a collaborative Agile development environment.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required, with CI Poly

• Hands-on experience developing applications using Java.
• Familiarity with the Spring or Spring Boot framework.
• Exposure to RESTful web services and API integration.
• Basic understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with Git, Maven, Gradle, or similar development tools.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as JUnit.
• Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
• Understanding of software configuration management and CI/CD concepts.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Exposure to mission management, planning, modeling, or analytics systems.
• Previous internship or project experience supporting Federal Government or Intelligence Community programs.
