Archive Data Management Specialist I (Data Center Support)

Strategic Business Systems, Inc. (SBS) is hiring an Archive Data Management Specialist I to support data center operations in Raleigh, NC. This is a full-time position that supports a Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday schedule from 7:00am - 7:30pm, however, employees should have some flexibility to support other shifts and nights/weekends on occasion.  
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting everyday Resiliency Center operations at the data center and/or remote sites by performing duties per prescribed, documented processes and procedures to support data protection operations of critical customer information. These tasks include but are not limited to scanning, comparing, processing of media, mounting/demounting of media, performing system commands, assisting customers via phone and email, and interacting with hardware including placing service requests via phone and/or electronically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist customer in execution of exercises or outage emergencies, ensuring their overall satisfaction with the services provided.
  • Specific responsibilities may include:
    • Support inbound and outbound customer storage media to/from the data center
    • Conduct manual inventories on all media
    • Document inventory
    • Alert/escalate issues to managers such as discrepancies or issues he/she cannot drive to resolution
    • Stage and mount/dismount media to designated area(s) for test events
    • Maintain communication with program advisors and customers during test events
    • Monitor tape pool in Lotus Notes ID
    • Set up Mainframe drives, phones, and terminal in tape pool areas
    • Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations for each customer
    • Place service calls for hardware issues
    • Perform first-level support for problem resolution
    • Keep work areas and paperwork organized
    • Provide shift turnover documentation to shift lead and other team members
    • Escort customers in and out of restricted areas
  • As needed, responsibilities also include the following:
    • Provide information and support to customers as the representative of the Customer Assistance Desk
    • Scheduling, tracking, and performing security escorts for on-site customers
    • Create customer site access badges
    • Generate reports
    • Prepare meeting agendas and track meeting deliverables & action items
    • Interacting with hardware including placing service requests via phone and electronically
    • Handling incoming and outgoing shipment requests

  • Moderate computer skills, experience using Excel and Word is required
  • Ability to use email, communicate effectively both verbally and written

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware
  • Perform system queries for information and provide interpretation and resolution as appropriate
  • Recognize minor to moderate hardware malfunctions and be able to resolve most problems under direction/supervision of lead personnel
  • Understand and utilize communication and work tools (phone, e-mail, turnover tools, fax, client training tools, other client specific work tools, etc.)
  • Be able and willing to learn new tasks/skills as required
  • Must be able to communicate and understand verbal, written, and electronic instructions in English
  • High School diploma or equivalent, eligible to work in the United States
Physical Demands
While performing these duties employees are regularly required to sit, talk or hear (in person and by phone), use hands to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to walk, stand and move about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.  
Mental Demands
While performing these duties, employees are regularly required to effectively use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; learn and apply new skills and information; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; and interact with other employees, clients and vendors. Must maintain composure in a fast paced, high quality environment where personal and team accountabilities are the defining factors.
